Liz Tewksbury was was a special woman who believed strongly in helping women in need.  She volunteered for the Bethsaida Board of Directors for over 6 years and was an active part of supporting Katie Blair House women.

The magic she created at Katie Blair House during the holiday season was contagious.  Each year she purchased special gifts for residents, meticulously wrapped them, and gave women hope and joy.

She was a great friend to many!Liz Tewksbury obituary

Susan Bysiewicz ran for state representative in 1992 because she wanted to help the state she loved and to give her children the same opportunities she had growing up in Middletown. As a state representative, she won passage of laws banning gifts from lobbyists to legislators, making daycare safer and ending “drive through” mastectomies.  In 1998, Susan Bysiewicz was elected to serve as Connecticut's Secretary of the State becoming the first Polish-American and Greek-American to be elected to statewide constitutional office in Connecticut.   In her twelve years as Secretary of the State, Susan helped thousands of small businesses start up and grow, she helped modernize the state’s elections system, she returned money from her office budget to the Connecticut treasury for deficit reduction, and she honored thousands of World War II veterans.

Channavy Chhay was born and raised in Cambodia.  She lived through the Khmer Rouge war between 1975 and 1980.  In 1980, she came to Providence RI at the age of 13 with her mom and aunt.  Out of 5 children, Channavy is the only surviving child in her family.  Utilizing her personal experiences she is able to assist others in overcoming insurmountable obstacles and bettering their own lives.  Channavy is the Executive Director of the Socio-Economic Development Center for Southeast Asians (SEDCSEA) located in Providence and Woonsocket RI.  SEDCSEA serves 1,250 clients each year by providing: youth and family support, assistance to victims of crime, substance abuse prevention, elderly services and meal site, health equity and advocacy, citizenship classes, ESL and GED classes, volunteer income tax assistance and the International Language Bank which provides translation in 22 different languages.
